As most of our customers probably already know, our vice cream is totally plant-based, which means that zero dairy is used in the making of our vice cream. A common question we are often asked, is what do we use in place of dairy for our base? The answer, of course, is coconut...and sweet potato!

Aside from being perfect in terms of taste and texture for our plant-based vice cream, sweet potato is also teeming with carotenoids like beta carotene, which improves your vision and makes you more immune to disease.

Another cool thing about sweet potato? It’s a starch, which means it’s full of natural sugar. This means that we don’t have to add as much organic cane sugar to our vice cream as we would if it was made with dairy.

Also, the sugar that sweet potatoes contain are different: they slowly release their goodness into the bloodstream, making it a much healthier energy source that won’t spike your blood sugar. Ultimately, this means that it’s a better choice for diabetics.[3]
